True Heading has now developed its own Class A transponder with a focus on commercial shipping.
Beginning in 2011, all boats over 20m sailing the inland waterways of Holland, among others will have to install the Class A AIS. Similar requirements will also be implemented in Germany within the next few years to come.
As for Sweden and other EU countries so, a new EU directive to take effect, where all fishing vessels over 15m need to carry AIS class A. The implementation will be as follows. From May 31, 2012 all vessels over 24m, in 2013 all vessels over 18m and finally in 2014 all vessels over 15m.
